Group analyst with a once weekly group-anlaytic psychothearpy group that meets once a week in person, in Sheffield. Individual psychodynamic psychotherapist, qualified clinical supervisor (individual and group supervision), therapeutic counsellor and EMDR Therapist. I provide short and long-term therapy. In person in Sheffield, S11 and S10 and online therapy. I have a twenty-year career working in the NHS crisis resolution home treatment team as a highly specialist psychotherapist and as a group psychotherapist in secondary care. I have many years of experience in recovery from substance misuse and process addictions, and working with young people aged 18 to 25. At certain points in everyone's lives, there comes a time when life, work, family life, loss and bereavement, or stress can become overwhelming, and how we manage our stress and anxiety can become problematic. Talking in therapy about what has happened to you can help you understand yourself and how you respond to life when it becomes overwhelming. I know it’s not easy to approach a psychotherapist for the first time. Speaking with a stranger can feel daunting initially, though once you get through those initial and understandable anxieties, you can be surprised by how helpful it can be to talk with someone you have no prior contact with. The initial contact is usually by telephone. We will have a conversation and decide if you would like an assessment. The assessment is an opportunity to tell me about yourself. I ask some questions about your past and present life. We then decide how long we could potentially work together. Afterwards, you can decide if you’d like to work with me. I view people as social beings where your culture permeates you to the core of who you are. Your culture is developed from the histories of the countries you were born into, your family's culture and how that has either hindered or helped you in your life so far. Whether you have moved town or country, from one place to another, or stayed in the same place, all is important in our cultural development. Many people may have stopped talking about the pandemic. There are still those who have found the self-isolation and lockdowns a challenge, or I have had some people say that it levelled the playing field of life. The pandemic has impacted people's lives both financially and emotionally. You may want a space to discuss the past, the present, and the future. Over a twenty-year career, I have accumulated a wealth of experience as a highly specialist psychotherapist and a group psychotherapist in the NHS for six and a half years, in the NHS and before that, over a decade working in the rehabilitation and substance misuse recovery services, which included working with people's underlying trauma in groups and individual therapy. I also provide individual and group supervision for student counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and experienced therapists. I am an accredited member of the UKCP and a Registered Member of the BACP Association, and a full clinical member of IGA. My interest in group psychotherapy has developed over time from working in therapeutic communities (CQC & Ofsted Regulated as Registered and therapy manager) with 11 to 18-year-olds for children in care, and adults in substance misuse recovery. who are autistic and have been diagnosed with ADHD, and who are neurodivergent. I have a keen interest in working with Autistic people, people diagnosed with ADHD, and who are neurodivergent.
